Alerta! - Privacy-First Safety Reporting
Privacy Philosophy: Alerta is designed with privacy as the core principle. We collect minimal data only for essential safety features.
What Alerta Does NOT Collect
- No personal information or user accounts
- No names, emails, or contact information
- No device tracking or advertising IDs
- No usage analytics or behavior tracking
- No location history or movement patterns
- No social media integration
- No permanent data storage of your content
What Alerta Does Collect (For Safety Only)
- Anonymous location data: Approximate location for safety reports (no GPS tracking)
- Report content: Text and photos you choose to share for community safety
- Temporary data: Reports automatically expire and are deleted within 8 hours
🛡️ Content Moderation and Safety
Automated Content Screening: To ensure a safe environment for all users, photos uploaded to Alerta are automatically screened using Microsoft Azure AI Content Safety services.
How Content Moderation Works:
- When you upload a photo, it is sent to Microsoft Azure AI for automated analysis
- The analysis happens in real-time before your photo is saved to our servers
- Microsoft analyzes the content but does not store your photos for training purposes
- Photos that violate community standards are automatically rejected
- Approved photos are processed with complete metadata removal
Data Sharing for Safety:
- Third Party: Microsoft Corporation (Azure AI Content Safety)
- Purpose: Automated content moderation and safety screening
- Data Shared: Photo content only (no personal information)
- Retention: Microsoft does not retain photos after analysis
- Legal Basis: Legitimate interests in maintaining platform safety
Photo Processing and Privacy Protection
- Complete metadata removal: All EXIF data, GPS coordinates, camera information, and timestamps are permanently stripped
- Anonymous storage: Photos cannot be traced back to you
- Size optimization: Photos are compressed and standardized for efficiency
- Content safety: All photos are screened for inappropriate content before being saved
- Automatic deletion: All photos are permanently deleted within 8 hours
Location Privacy
- Approximate only: Location is "fuzzy" - not your exact position
- No tracking: We don't track your movements or location history
- Anonymous zones: Location data is converted to anonymous grid zones
- No profile building: Cannot be used to identify patterns or habits
Your Rights and Control
- You control what content you share
- You can contact us if you believe a photo was incorrectly rejected
- All data expires automatically - no permanent storage
- No user accounts mean no data profiles
- Complete anonymity by design
Third-Party Services
Microsoft Azure AI Content Safety: Used solely for automated content moderation. For more information about Microsoft's data handling practices, see Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Why We Built It This Way
At KindCode, we believe safety reporting should be truly anonymous. Alerta operates with minimal data collection, automatic deletion, and complete privacy protection. This isn't just a privacy feature. It's our core design philosophy for community safety apps.

- Generated content: Lesson plans, summaries, transcripts, and audio files are created from your input and stored locally on your device in your personal library.

Site Extraction Disclaimer
Not every website can be extracted. Some sites block automated reading, require a login, use heavy JavaScript, or are behind a paywall. The Narrator cannot guarantee successful extraction of any particular URL, and the accuracy of extracted text depends on the source website. By using this feature, you acknowledge that KindCode is not liable for extraction failures, incomplete content, or inaccuracies, and you are responsible for complying with the source site's terms of service and applicable copyright laws.
Data Storage & Retention
- Local-first library: Saved articles, lesson series, and audio files are stored on your device, not on KindCode servers.
